In the royal family’s last attempt to show the world that they are not racists, a senior representative told Britain’s Channel 4 that Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the royals support the Black Lives Matter movement.

CNN reports that Ken Olisa, London’s first black gentleman lieutenant, was asked about the actual feeling of BLM during an interview that aired on Channel 4 on Friday. The royal family has been hot water on the run ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told Oprah About cases of racism and colorism that they witnessed while standing behind the walls of Buckingham Palace.

During the interview, Olisa said that family members are open to talking about racism, which … right? Out of Prince William and Duchess Kate condemn racism The black players of the England national football team faced off after losing to Italy during the Euro 2020 final; there are not many other examples of how the royal family is as willing to talk about race as Olisa describes. But I digress.

From CNN:

“I have discussed with the royal family this whole issue of race, especially in the last twelve months since the George Floyd incident,” he said.

“It’s a hot topic of conversation. The question is what more can we do to force society to remove these barriers. They [the royals] he is passionately concerned with making this nation bound by the same values. “

Olisa was also asked if the royal family supports BLM. “The answer is easily yes,” he said.

If this interview gives you “We can’t be racist because we have a black friend,” you’re not the only one. NBC News reports that a Momodou Taal, which hosts a podcast focused on race and identity, said the interview with Olisa was “clearly” a response to Meghan and Harry’s accusations.

More information from NBC News:

“It is not uncommon for the family to have accusations of racism against them. It is the remnant of a brutal British empire that has never recognized its role in perpetuating racism around the world, “Taal said.” As much damage control as it has tried to do, since me and for many people, we still see the family with the goal that Harry and Meghan led them to. “

Taal said that since Floyd’s death, attempts have been made to “modernize” the family’s image.

“They (the family) do not represent modern Britain,” he said, “They represent what Britain was in the midst of colonization, and that image will be fixed on them forever.”
