In North Carolina, the Republican Party has lost several thousand people since the attack last Wednesday.
According to the State Electoral Board, between January 6 and 11, 2,879 people left the Republican Party in North Carolina.
More than 2,400 of these people became unaffiliated and 262 moved to the Democratic Party.
Predictably, Wake County had the majority of voters who left the Republican Party, with 586 people changing affiliation.
There were quite a few people who joined the Republican Party after January 6, with 742 people going from non-affiliated, constitutional, democratic or libertarian to Republican.
Thus, in that six-day period, Republicans had a net loss of 2,137 registered voters across North Carolina.
On the Democratic side, the change in party affiliation is not as dramatic, even though the party suffered a net loss.
Between January 6 and 11, 864 Democrats changed affiliation. However, 722 voters went from various parties to the Democratic Party, including 440 non-affiliated voters. This represents a net loss of 142 voters.
