PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio had not revealed his position on Wednesday’s Electoral College certification, but is talking on social media about the closure of the U.S. Capitol after protesters violated barricades and stormed the Capitol.
His first tweet: “There’s nothing patriotic about what’s happening on Capitol Hill,” Rubio tweeted. “This is a 3rd world-style anti-American anarchy.”
His last tweet was addressed directly to the president.
Mr. President @realDonaldTrump law enforcement men and women are being assaulted. It is crucial that you help restore order by sending resources to help the police and ask those who do.

“Mr. President: Law enforcement men and women are being assaulted. It is essential that you help restore order by sending resources to help the police and ask those who do so to stop. “
On Saturday, dozens of protesters gathered in Miami’s West End Park and then marched on Rubio’s home in West Miami, demanding that he reject Electoral College totals that show Joe Biden won the race to be president. or that they will vote for him.
One of the new Republicans in the Miami Congress, Carlos Gimenez, also commented on the events that unfolded.
Mr. President @realDonaldTrump Please take a firm stand and help us restore order to the Capitol. This is unacceptable and dangerous. Capitol police need additional officers and resources now. We urgently need to convene these protesters to disperse.

This illegality is unpleasant and disgusting. This is not what we are as a nation and does not represent our values. All people who act violently must be captured and punished. I pray for the safety of our Capitol police who work tirelessly to ensure that everyone stays safe.
