Dramatic images released Monday show officers shouting “police” before being forced into the illegal radish, located near the city’s jewelry store, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The commotion is audible on the part of a crowd when they become aware that their match has ended quite abruptly. Police suffered blisters and an officer sustained a minor injury, according to police.
Thermal images of an unmanned police plane showed partygoers trying to escape the compound from the rooftop.
England is in its third national closure, with a ban on people being instructed to stay home and mixing between homes.
The illegal party had a bar, neon signs and a ballroom and even officers found a recording studio and a gym in the building, police said.
About 70 people received fines of £ 200 ($ 278), according to West Midlands police.
Assistant Chief of Police Chris Todd called the attacks on officers “unacceptable” and praised the crackdown.
“Our officers continue to work hard and hard to protect the public and reduce the spread of this deadly virus by breaking up these meetings, often in really difficult circumstances,” he said.
“While there is high hope in terms of deploying coronavirus vaccines, people need to remember that we are still closed and that the virus remains a real threat to West Midlands communities.”
In a separate incident Saturday night, police also discovered that a garage workshop in Port Dudley had been turned into a bar, called “The Covid Arms.”
