SAINT ANTHONY – A man who was found dead after being shot dead in his La Cantera apartment is remembered by those who knew him as a musical artist who stood out from the rest.
Martell Derouen, also known by his stage name as Kordone, was considered unique, not only for his lyrical talent, but also for his unusually humble personality.
“Kordone was one of those that shone and shone, brighter than, you know, some of the ones in the room,” said Brian Mitchell, owner of Fyngermade Studio.
Mitchell recalls the brightest days recording in the studio with 34-year-old Derouen, whom he considered a friend.
“He was just a subtle, quiet friend,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said that although Derouen was Beyoncé’s cousin, he never used her name to benefit him.
“I wouldn’t even mention that to people. We should just put his biography because it’s fair, it’s worth putting it, but he doesn’t like things like that, “said Mitchell.
Announcements
On Tuesday, Derouen was found shot in his apartment in the Towers complex in La Cantera.
“I could not believe it. I thought they had the wrong person, “Mitchell said.
Sasha Skare, who San Antonio police believe shot Derouen, is now being sought. There is an active assassination order for Skare.
On an Instagram page, which appears to be operated on by a 21-year-old girl, you can see people telling her to give up.
While investigators are convinced Derouen was the victim of a homicide, the question everyone still asks is why?
“It’s like hurting a butterfly,” Mitchell said.
Derouen’s wife was too shocked to speak to KSAT12 on Thursday and asked for privacy.
Throughout the text, Mitchell’s feelings were echoed by saying “he didn’t deserve this.”
Anyone with information about the Skare Parador is asked to call the SAPD Homicide Unit at 210-207-7635.
