The San Francisco 49ers will hire Butch Barry away from the Packers

The 49ers are ready to add to their offensive coaching staff. On Friday, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported Butch Barry would join San Francisco as an assistant offensive line coach.

Barry spent last season as a senior analyst at Green Bay, where he signed before the 2020 campaign. Prior to his stint with the Packers, Barry was an offensive line coach at the University of Miami.

He made his coaching job in southwestern Minnesota in 2004 as an offensive line coach. From there he moved to Michigan Tech in 2006 as an offensive line coach and eventually became its offensive coordinator. He then retired to North Greenville University and returned to central Michigan, where he played college football and spent two years as a graduate assistant in 2002 and 2003.

Barry’s NFL coaching debut came with the Buccaneers in 2015. He was OL’s assistant coach for Tampa Bay for four years before taking on the role of OL coach at the University of Miami on 2019.

In San Francisco he will work with OL coach Chris Foerster, who was OL’s assistant coach on last year’s staff.
