VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A massive search continues for a Daytona Beach diver who sank on Friday in the Atlantic Ocean and has not been since.
Jim Evans’ family confirmed to News 6 that he was the diver looking for the U.S. Coast Guard and other search groups. According to his website and the Florida Bar Association, Evans is a lawyer serving Daytona Beach and the Florida area.
According to her daughter, Kylie Evans, her father went diving 30 nautical miles offshore and never got back on the boat. Kylie Evans said her father is an experienced diver and has done similar dives in the past many times.

“I’m waiting for good news and I beg you to float somewhere on the shore waiting for me to find you,” Kylie Evans wrote Saturday in a tweet.
The U.S. Coast Guard industry, Jacksonville, is leading the search for the diver with the help of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, the Fish Conservation and Wildlife Commission of Florida and volunteer navigators.

The search continued overnight through Monday and the U.S. Coast Guard station, Ponce de Leon Inlet, also joined the search efforts over the weekend.
Evan was wearing a multicolored camouflage diving suit and his green and orange buoys were still floating where the diver was last seen, according to the Coast Guard.
On Sunday, the Coast Guard deployed a C-130 aircraft in search outside Ponce Inlet. Crews had conducted more than 60 hours of boat and air search patterns, covering more than 2,350 nautical miles as of Sunday morning.
