The Seismic Network of Puerto Rico (RSPR) recorded during the early hours of today, Thursday, eight earthquakes, all reported as senses, with magnitudes that fluctuated between 2.1 and 3.9.
There is no tsunami warning or alert as a result of landslides.
The first quake during this morning was recorded at 01:02 with a magnitude of 3.3 and an estimated maximum intensity of III in Guánica. The epicenter of this natural phenomenon was 10.09 kilometers east of Guánica with a depth of 12 kilometers.
The largest and most recent earthquake was 4.0 as recent as at 07:17. Its epicenter was 7 kilometers deep and – according to the Seismic Network – the epicenter took place 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of the municipality.
The New Day tried to contact the director of the RSPR, Víctor Orfe, but it was not possible to establish the connection.

1. Magnitude 3.37 – Reported as meaning at 01:02. Its epicenter was located 10.09 kilometers east of Guánica with a depth of 12 kilometers.
2. Magnitude 2.46 – Reported as sense at 02:56 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 9.1 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
3. Magnitude 3.06 – Reported as sense at 03:22 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.43 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
4. Magnitude 2.78 – Reported as sense at 03:42 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 14 kilometers, 9.6 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
5. Magnitude 2.15 – Reported as sense at 03:45 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 13 kilometers, 11.28 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
6. Magnitude 3.63 – Reported as sense at 03:51 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 11 kilometers, 9.42 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
7. Magnitude 3.98 – Reported as sense at 05:21 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 9.98 kilometers east-southeast of Guánica.
8. Magnitude 3.59 – Reported as sense at 05:34 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 12 kilometers, 10.06 kilometers southeast of Guánica.
9. Magnitude 4.00 – Reported as sense at 07:17 Its epicenter was located at a depth of 7 kilometers, 10.39 kilometers east-southeast of Guánica.
On December 28 last year there was a magnitude 4.7 quake in the same geographical area as the quakes that were recorded today. On January 6 this year, there was a magnitude 6.4 earthquake, also in the southern area.
In the area to the southeast of Guánica is the Punta Montalva fault, which has been investigated by dozens of scientists since the beginning of the year.
