The trademarks of Square Enix Ever Crisis, The Last Soldier and other names in Final Fantasy VII, however, what could they mean?

Square Enix has introduced a lot of new brands that are sure to have a lot to do with the world Final Fantasy VII.

Trademarks filed in Japan for titles’The usual crisis“i”The first soldier‘. In addition, a trademark for the FF7 Shinra Electric Power Company universe logo was also unveiled. The people of Gematsu captured the trademarks.

These three brands that are being applied for as a result of the success of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the winner of RPG Site’s 2020 Global Best Site Award, may not be so surprising. The trademark of the Shinra logo is simpler; after all, this logo is frequently used in brands and merchandise. But the titles, in particular, raise tempting questions, such as what they might be for.

The usual crisis is a project name with obvious connotations. The Final Fantasy VII compilation includes titles in alphabetical order. There is the film derived from the FF7 Advent Children, the Turkish mobile game Before Crisis, the prequel to PSP Crisis Core and the sequel to PS2 Dirge of Cerberus. This is AC, BC, CC and DC, and now, with Ever Crisis, we have a trademark of what appears to be a new Final Fantasy VII Compilation title in EC.

Ever Crisis could, of course, be the subtitle of the second part of the FF7 Remake. But honestly, we think that’s not a certainty, especially because the title “EC” makes it look and sound more like one more entry from the compilation. We now know that the remake is related to the compilation and is even considered the fifth part of the compilation, so it is possible. The choice of the word “Always” in the name is interesting and immediately reminds us of the idea of something always present or eternal; would be an ideal name for a multiplayer or service-based game in the FF7 universe environment.

There is one more alternative, a little crazy. The final stages of FF7 Remake reveal its true nature as a story that is not only a remake, but also a sequel to FF7. After the release, director Tetsuya Nomura referred to this as the fifth entry in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation. We know that the game will be released on other platforms alongside PlayStation 4 once the one-year exclusivity period expires. Could this release of the game be given the subtitle “Ever Crisis”, a gesture in its true nature, now is the secret?

Considering the timing along with these other trademark files obviously related to FF7, The first soldier it’s not the name that seems generic, it refers, of course, to the elite of Shinra, a genetically enhanced superhuman military group within the FF7 world. Based on the general meaning of SOLDIER, as described in FF7, the identity of the “first” SOLDIER is pretty obvious: it’s Sephiroth. He was the first to be injected with the cells of the Jenova Project.

However, within the tradition of FF7, the SOLDIER program is mentioned as existing in some form before Sephiroth; for example, Finalania VII Ultimania mentions that SOLDIER forces were used in the Wutai war and on other occasions before the Jenova Project existed. However, these same books are also clear that Sephiroth is the first Jenova-enhanced SOLDIER in existence. Could it be a game, an anime, or another story that tells the origins of Sephiroth? Of course, only time will tell, and before that, we have a new generation version of FF7 Remake PC and not yet announced, but inevitable, which we expect first, hopefully, in a matter of months.

Meanwhile, however, fans can now feverishly speculate on what those trade names might mean.

If we made a prediction, though, it would probably be a new single, possibly multiplayer, FF7 compilation title to release sometime around FF7 Remake 2, and some sort of anime or CG movie that would tell the story of the Sephiroth origin … but we are strictly throwing ideas. And now you can too!
