Naason Joaquín García, arrested in June 2019 in the United States, accused of multiple sexual offenses against minors, began 2020 facing new evidence in the case against him. The leader of Light of the World continues with the trial in Los Angeles Court, where one of his alleged collaborators pleaded guilty.
Sochil Martin was the first denouncer of the so-called apostle and key witness in the accusation made against him. Martin gave his version of events in the documentary series Trade, Which premiered in Utah and officially premiered in March.
On July 31, the California Prosecutor’s Office filed a new indictment in Los Angeles County Court against the leader of World Light and two of his alleged accomplices, Alosa Ocampo and Susana Medina.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Oct. 21 dismissed six of those 36 charges because of a lack of evidence. There were four allegations of extortion and two relating to the rape of a minor.
The start of the trial was postponed to January 6, 2021 by Judge Ronald Coen, who agreed to the defense’s request to postpone the date, previously scheduled for November 12.
It was established that Naason Joaquín will be tried together with Susana Medina Oaxaca, accused of being an accomplice of the leader of the Light of the World.
Last Tuesday the Financial Intelligence Unit filed 5 complaints against Naason for tax evasion and money laundering.
