LONDON, Aug. 28 (Reuters) – Britain’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Laurie Bristow, said on Saturday it was time to end an airlift that had evacuated nearly 15,000 Afghan and British citizens during the last two weeks.

“It is time to close this phase of the operation, but we have not forgotten the people who have yet to leave and we will do our best to help them,” he said in a statement at Kabul airport released by the ministry. British exteriors.
