LONDON (Reuters) – The UK recorded 210 deaths on Saturday from COVID-19, up from 570 the day before, while cases rose from 1968 to 34,693, the government said, citing partial data.
The last R number is estimated to be between 1.1 and 1.3, according to the government.
The UK has recorded a death toll of 70,405, defined as those who die within 28 days of the positive test. According to this measure, it has the sixth largest toll in the world, after the United States, Brazil, India, Mexico and India.
A broader measure of people dying with COVID-19 on their death certificates places the UK death toll at 79,349.
