The United States is sanctioning two leaders of the Mexican CJNG cartel

The United States on Tuesday increased pressure on the Mexican Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) cartel, with sanctions against two senior commanders: Carlos Andrés Rivera, alias “In the company“, I Francisco Javier Gudino, Known as “the hen“.

The two bosses were accused of helping orchestrate murders. These sanctions block access to American financial system and decree the freezing of any good in this circuit.

U.S. authorities noted that this sign is responsible for violent attacks on rival groups to ensure territorial control for traffic activities.

“Today’s actions are a reminder that the Treasury will continue to sanction those who support the CJNG, whether the person is a violent actor or an accomplice businessman,” said Andrea M. Gacki, director of the the OFAC.

According to the Treasury Department, this cartel is one of the main perpetrators of the shipment of illicit drugs – including fentanyl – to the United States.

The Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel was created in 2007 as a group of assassins in the service of the Sinaloa Cartel, Led by Joaquin “Chapo” Guzmán, who was sentenced to life in prison in the United States. Around 2010, the CJNG became independent and is now vying with its former allies for drug trafficking.
