The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday repatriated 54 Dominican ex-prisoners who served sentences in prisons in that nation on charges of committing various criminal offenses, including drug trafficking, homicide, assaults and other criminal actions.
The returnees were taken by the Airport the International of the Americas, Jose Francisco Rock Go’mez, in the flight of the airline SWIFT AIR LLC, coming from the city of Alexandria, of the United States.
For the reception of the aircraft with the returnees, the security authorities and the General Directorate of Migration set up a large security device around the area, as a preventive measure due to the danger of some of the former criminals. .
Of the chancellor’s statutes, 25 served sentences related to drug trafficking cases, another 14 accused of residing illegally in the United States and the rest for other misdemeanors.
With this amount to raise to 798 nationals deported to the Dominican Republic so far this year 2021, after serving sentences in US prisons, accused of committing various criminal and federal crimes.
In 2020, the US Immigration and Control Service deported 1,400 Dominican ex-prisoners to the Dominican Republic.
From the airport terminal, the Creoles were mounted on two buses of the General Directorate of Migration, and transferred to a detention center for deportees, located in the Vacacional de Haina, in the province of San Cristóbal, where they would be investigated and purified.
Every 15 days, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service deports the Dominican Republic to a group of nationals on the deportation list after serving their sentences in prisons in that nation.
