Cyrus Shahpar, White House data director COVID-19, tweeted on Saturday that more than 4.08 million doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. He noted that this was the first time the U.S. had taken an average of more than 3 million doses a day over the past week.
“Go on a record day of information !! Yesterday, + 4.08 M doses were reported on the total. First day with 4M or more. It is also the first time it has averaged more than 3 million newspapers in the past week, “Shahpar tweeted.

Data of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that the U.S. has administered 4,081,959 doses of vaccine since Friday, bringing the seven-day average of vaccinations to 3,072,527 per day.
In all, up to 161.6 million vaccine doses have been administered in the United States so far, according to the agency’s vaccine tracker. More than 104 million people have received at least one dose and nearly 60 million have been completely vaccinated.
The data comes as the government tries to speed up vaccinations on a push to return to a certain degree of normalcy.
The CDC on Friday issued guidelines stating that fully vaccinated people should not be tested before or after the national trip. However, the agency still advises wearing a mask and getting tested three or five days after international travel.
But while encouraging news on the vaccine front, experts warn that the American public must remain vigilant to prevent another increase in cases nationwide.
Cases have steadily increased in the last two weeks after declining after the winter holidays. Michigan, in particular, has seen an increase in cases over a two-week period, according to data from The New York Times.
More than 30 million Americans have been infected with coronavirus since the pandemic began, according to CDC data, and more than 550,000 have died.
