For the second time in 10 days, Georgia’s scheduled game against Vanderbilt was halted because the Commodores failed to meet SEC’s minimum list and level requirements, the SEC announced on Monday.
The 9th Bulldogs are scheduled to play the undefeated Commodores at home in the final regular season game at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. SEC said it would be notified that this match was not a match.
Georgia is actively seeking an alternative to Vanderbilt to play a game on Saturday. Sources told ESPN that the Bulldogs were discussing playing a game with the state of Colorado.
Georgia Athletics Director Greg McCarthy told ESPN “We do it with our diligence.”
The teams were originally scheduled to play in Athens, Georgia on December 5, but the game was postponed to the previous day due to similar listing issues, contact tracking, dislocation and injuries in Vanderbilt related to COVID-19.

“We were ready to play every week. We postponed two games and one was postponed,” McCarthy said. “It’s disgusting, and when you interact with young people, it’s hard for them to understand, especially when you’ve done your best for every sport.
“It’s unfortunate, it’s senior day, and the parents were on the way. It’s great if we play on the 19th, but I think there’s a little bit of concern about whether it will be played. I know Vandy is determined to play.
Georgia beat Missouri 49-14 on Saturday; The Commodores lost 42-17 to Tennessee at home.
The cancellation of Saturday’s game also marks the end of Vanderbilt footballer Sarah Fuller’s brief but record-breaking career. Against Tennessee, the goalkeeper of the Vanderbilt women’s football team became the first woman to score a goal by kicking a couple extra points in a Power 5 conference game. Against Missouri on November 28, she became the first woman to open the second half of the Power 5 game.
