A woman in China was disappointed when she opened a package to find that her new iPhone 12 Pro Max had been replaced with an apple-flavored yogurt drink.
In a video posted on Weibo on Friday, the woman, named Liu, explained that she spent more than $ 1,500 buying a new iPhone on Apple’s official website. When he later opened the package, someone had changed the contents with a food.
Liu did not receive the package directly from his messenger, but from a parcel closet in his residential community.
Local police had considered the exchange a theft case, though no one is sure where the switch occurred along the line. Both Apple and Express Mail Service, the company that delivered the Liu package, are currently initiating an investigation.
Said a member of EMS customer service Global Times Friday that the incident is still under investigation. “We have appointed colleagues to deal with it especially,” he said. In accordance with Global Times, Apple gave a similar response, saying the investigation is still ongoing.
Weibo users stepped in to reflect on who might have committed the theft, with allegations directed at the courier company, Apple store employees or even suggesting that Liu may have bought on a website imitating Apple.
Apple products, and especially high-value iPhones, are often the subject of this theft, but they are not usually private. Recently, five men were captured with security footage stealing $ 12,000 worth of Apple products, which appeared to be exhibits, from a Best Buy location in Dover, Delaware, in early December.
