While platforms as recent as the PS3 and even the Switch now work very well in emulators, the original Xbox has been left as a thorn in the side of the scene. So it’s fun to see the Xem emulator making such solid progress.
Xemu v0.5 was recently released and this video shows some of the games that can be run on it, from large versions Hello to not-so-large releases.
While the video above is promising, it also uses so many random / terrible games for one reason: most of the console library can’t be played on the emulator, so this is a progress video for a v0.5 version and not a triumphant full version. .
If there’s a cross-platform game of this generation that you’re dying to try again, it’s best to try the PS2 version, as the emulation is much more mature for that platform. But if you’re looking for an Xbox exclusive, stay tuned for other developments like this one.
