The United States Senate cannot conduct a “fair or serious” political trial of President Donald Trump in the few days remaining before he leaves office, he said Mitch McConnell, republican leader Wednesday.
“According to the rules, procedures and precedents in the Senate governing political trial, there is simply no chance that a fair or serious trial can end before President-elect Joe Biden takes office next week, ”McConnell said in a statement.
Trump was indicted Wednesday in the House of Representatives and will face political trial in the Senate.
