These skinny Pokémon designs are horrible

Since the early days of the franchise, Pokemon fans have been sharing their own personal views on the creatures, but Bare Pokémon may be the most disturbing version of the story. The @peeled_pokemon account on Twitter has been touring all the Pokémon in the franchise, with several details removed using Paint Tool Sai 2. According to Kotaku, the designs started out as a joke among friends, but the account quickly exploded on the social media platform ; @peeled_pokemon started tweeting in January 2020 and has over 66,000 followers at the moment. Clearly, the designs have had a huge impact on Pokémon fans.

At this time, the account has shared images of the first 452 Pokémon with deleted details. This places them in the territory of the 4th generation, which seems quite appropriate, taking into account everything recent Diamond and Pearl Pokémon News! All of the stripped Pokémon designs are being posted according to their official Pokedex order, so most intense fans won’t have too much trouble identifying them (numbers are included in every Tweet, but names no). However, for casual fans, some may be a little easier to identify than others. Below is an example of the @peeled_pokemon account.

It is interesting to see how fans have reacted to these posts and how much the account has been taken over the last year. It is a testament to the popularity of the franchise and also shows the various ways in which Pokemon continues to inspire creativity among fans. Over the past 25 years, Pokemon fans have found many creative outlets throughout the franchise, and these peeled Pokémon designs are no exception. It’s unclear whether or not the person running the account will offer newly downloaded versions of all the Pokémon in the franchise, but as the account creator approaches halfway there, it seems like a different possibility.

Those interested in finding more works by the artist can find her on her Twitter account @peeled_pokemon. The artist also has a Ko-fi account, which can be found right here.
