– While the launch of the various coronavirus vaccines continues, there is now a light (still a bit far away) at the end of the pandemic tunnel. But in the absence of months for much of the population to be vaccinated, it is important to follow health and safety guidelines and monitor local statistics. The latter part will vary depending on where you live, as some states in the United States are doing much better than others in keeping COVID under control and distributing the vaccine. WalletHub examined the 50 states using only five key metrics (vaccination rate, positive test rate, hospitalization rate, estimated transmission rate, and mortality rate) to see which were the safest and which could improve. Top and bottom performers:

- Alaska
- Vermont
- Colorado
- Montana
- North Dakota

- Missouri
The worst states
