Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colom announced the approval of $ 74,751,568 in federal funds allocated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for child care and health services and for Rural Development for purchase of vehicles.
The commissioner was notified of the approval of $ 769,498 for the purchase of vehicles by the Municipality of Daurat which will help the city council to carry out recreational activities, security, public works among others.
The funds are part of the $ 266 million made available today by 16 states and Puerto Rico by Rural Development, an agency under the federal Department of Agriculture. The money covers everything from health care service in rural areas to emergency response services
“This investment in Rural Development will be used to help buy public works and safety vehicles. The vehicles will help the city better meet the health, safety and protection needs of its residents. Dorado will use the vehicles to provide a variety of municipal and recreational services, ”reads the federal agency’s notification.
While the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Children and Families Administration / Head Start Office, allocated several funds under the Disaster Assistance program to Head Start Centers within of the social services category.
Among the funds allocated, the Municipality of Caguas will receive $ 602,320; Humacao Township will receive $ 2,015,697 and Manatí Township will receive $ 634,027.
On the other hand, within the HHS funds for Head Start and Early Head Start, Quintana Baptist Church will receive $ 1,911,819 and $ 2,498,801. These funds allocated by Head Start are final and only the date of disbursement of the same by the agency is pending which varies depending on the program.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) allocated federal funds for the 330 Centers. These centers are known as 330 Centers because they receive government funding. through section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA) by applying to the Health Center Cluster program, as a community agency that provides comprehensive primary health care services in areas where economic or geographical barriers limit access to affordable health care services.
As part of these funds, the Migrant Health Center Western Region, Inc. will receive $ 4,656,296; the Loiza Comprehensive Health Council, Inc. will receive $ 2,682,557; COSSMA, Inc. will receive $ 3,451,387; Prymed Medical Care, Inc. will receive $ 1,508,362; Morovis Community Health Center Inc will receive $ 1,672,751; the Hatillo Primary Care and Prevention Services Corporation will receive $ 2,117,456; Camuy Health Services, Inc. will receive $ 1,307,343; the Puerto Rico Health Council, Inc. will receive $ 5,712,109; the Family Health Center Dr. Julio Palmieri Ferri, Inc. will receive $ 3,188,770 and Neomed Center Inc. will receive $ 6,754,432.
On the other hand, the HRSA allocated $ 22,789,529 to the Puerto Rico Department of Health under the Ryan White Act II funds in the health services category.
HRSA also allocated $ 5,496,370 to the Puerto Rico Department of Health for health services under the Aids Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Relief.
The City of San Juan will receive $ 8,170,814 through HRSA for the HIV Emergency Relief Project.
As part of the funds allocated by HHS by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention / CDC-NCHHSTP National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STDS & TB Prevention (PS), the Puerto Rico Department of Health will receive 4,893. $ 986 for the project on HIV prevention programs under the category of health services.
