The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into millions of Toyota RAV4 vehicles for possible engine damage that would set them on fire.
This federal agency received about 11 complaints involving 2013 model cars in 2018.
In documents published today it was explained that fire usually starts in a left-handed behavior of the engine, where a terminal would be causing a short circuit.
According to Bay News media, most of these crashes have occurred while vehicles are being driven, but some drivers have reported that the fire happens even with the engine off.
1.9 million vehicles would be the ones evaluated in this survey.
While the vehicles are not being called for repair by the company yet, the investigation could lead to that.
Toyota spokesmen declined to answer the media if those who own these vehicles have parked outside their homes to avoid a major accident.
