Sector entities have expressed concern about the critical state of lenders
The Ministry of Health of the Nation authorized the Prepaid Medical Entities a general, complementary and cumulative increase of up to 3.5 percent in the price of its benefits from 1 March.
This is established by the resolution 531 published in the Official Gazette with the signature of Minister Ginés González García, and reaches health workers registered in the Register of Prepaid Medical Entities (RNEMP).
Accordingly, Health Insurance Agents and Medical Entities Prepaid will have to increase the remunerative values of the medical-care benefits provided to its beneficiaries and users by providers registered in the National Register of Providers of the Superintendency of Health Services by 3.5%.
In the recitals of the measure, it is mentioned that “the entities representing the sector have expressed their concern about the critical state in which most lenders are and emphasized the need to increase the remuneration values they receive for the benefits they provide, in order to alleviate this situation and ensure its continuity “.
Observing the variation in health costs, it was noted that “the higher costs in the sector and the valuable and necessary investment that lenders have had to make to deal with the pandemic and prevent the collapse of the health system, were also accompanied by the reduction of the rates of use of other usual and / or routine benefits not linked to Covid-19 and postponed depending on the health prioritization of this disease “.
This “resulted in lower economic income for such benefits while the fixed costs of care structure provided for this purpose remained virtually unchanged, or even increased,” notes the resolution released on Saturday.
