Four alleged members of a gang of assailants were arrested by officers of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) in the Satellite colony.
The suspects are 20, 21, 21 and 39 years old, are originally from and resident in San Pedro Sula, they are being investigated by the theft of people and delivery vehicles in different sectors of the northern area.
Two of the confiscated have a police record: one was arrested in 2018 for extortion and the other for the crime of robbery with force and intimidation.
At the time of their capture, they were confiscated by three revolver-type firearms, seven mobile phones of different brands and a van-type vehicle, Ford brand, Explorer model and white.
Joan Sabillón, Spokesperson for the National Police, Reported that “these young people came to light thanks to security cameras, mainly those installed in a business in the Fesitranh colony, where they stormed while playing a knockout match the national teams of Honduras and the United States.”
“After follow-up and surveillance actions they were intercepted on the east boulevard, at the height of the Satellite colony. It is believed that all are from the Satellite colony, from where they left on board of a luxury van already confiscated and thus committing the wrongdoings, “the spokesman added.
A video recorded on the night of the match between Honduras and the United States, which went viral on social media, showed an assault perpetrated against several citizens at a food store in the Fesitranh colony.
Citizens were surprised at the cut of 9:00 pm and in the audio of the recordings runs the story of the international sporting event. Through the images, three armed men were observed breaking into the establishment, while several people, outside, are waiting for food orders.
The men threatened customers with weapons while demanding their belongings, such as cash, cell phones and parts. Then the subjects marched in an unknown direction.
The agents assigned to the case perform investigative tasks to verify whether there are more people involved in the wrongdoing. In addition, an investigative report is being prepared for the crimes of theft with violence or intimidation and illegal possession of a firearm.
The DPI will refer the suspects to the prosecution on duty to proceed in accordance with the law.
