Three greenhouses with more than 1,500 marijuana plants were dismantled at various East Sunday residences, by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Public Ministry.
The DNCD spokesman; Carlos Devers, reported that they also occupied several buckets full of vegetables and a large number of covers sown in the process of germination.
In the operation carried out at the Residencial Rivera de el Carib, on Avenida Marginal, near the entrance to the Joan Pau II road, four rapes were carried out simultaneously, capturing a woman and three men, one of they of Haitian nationality.
In the joint operation participated 12 elite teams of the DNCD-five prosecutors, Where they also confiscated, 6 tents for greenhouses, reflector lights, electrical extensions, extractors, fans, transformers, an air conditioning and drip system for plants, fertilizer, fertilizer, a 12 caliber shotgun with various ammunition, electronic equipment, personal documents, among other evidence.
Authorities have been monitoring this illicit drug trafficking network for several months and according to preliminary reports were operating in Santo Domingo and much of the eastern part of the country.
The residences, as well as other evidence occupied in the operation, fell into the custody of the Public Ministry as part of the investigation..
The DNCD and the Public Ministry are activating the location of other members of this network dedicated to the cultivation, preparation and sale of marijuana.
The plants of the alleged marijuana, with a height of one to three feet, as well as wrappers and bushes in the process of germination were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
Authorities warn that they will continue to close the ring to stop and bring to justice members of networks engaged in illicit drug trafficking, money laundering, organized crime, as well as other related crimes.
