Justice Department filed charges for escalation and stalking following the arrest of Dariel Bravo Rivera by police last Friday night.

Carolina Court Judge Larisa Ortiz found cause for arrest of Dariel Bravo Rivera, 30, for violation of Article 194 (2012) of the Penal Code and Law 284, Article 4, subsection B1 (1999) , related to escalation and stalking, respectively, and imposed a total bail of $ 90,000, and then ordered his admission to the Bayamón Correctional Complex

Bravo Rivera was reported by the young Victoria Pizarro Ayala, 19, through a live video on social media, in which he alleged that he was the victim of a stalking pattern by the man and she narrated that he accessed the balcony of her residence and tried to open the door, while she was alone.

Following the public complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Antonio López Figueroa, activated the existing protocol yesterday morning, which led to the arrest of the man at night in a residence in Rio Pedres for part of several agents of the Division of Domestic Violence of Carolina and the quarter of High Trujillo, led by the lieutenant Luis A. Rivera Garci’a and the agent Juan Branches Creek.

According to the investigating prosecutor, Loraine Pietri Colom, since last night the prosecution has been working with the Puerto Rico Police to determine the filing of charges. “After examining the evidence and witnesses, we determined to file a charge for escalation and another for ambush before the Court this afternoon. Judge Ortiz imposed a bail of $ 45,000 for each of the two charges. The defendant did not qualifying for deferred bail, so he was admitted this afternoon to Bayamón prison. The preliminary hearing was set for March 9, “he said.

The Secretary of Justice, Domingo Emanuelli, assured that the Public Prosecutor’s Office is committed to this case, in the same way as it will do to anyone else who puts the life and safety of a woman at risk.

“Under the auspices of the Executive Order issued by the Governor, our team of prosecutors is acting diligently in this type of situation,” said the head of Justice.

“In the Puerto Rico Police we have zero tolerance for any kind of aggression against women and gender violence. We will allocate the necessary resources to advance any investigation related to this modality,” said Commissioner López Figueroa.
