They launch second alert call for deteriorating health of German student leader Lesther

The young people of the University Alliance of Nicaragua (AUN) launched this Monday, September 13, the second health alert of political prisoner and student leader Lesther Alemany, imprisoned in the Directorate of Legal Aid (DAJ) known as the we Chipote.

Alemany turns 70 this Monday. The young people of TOT I through a statement again called for the “full respect” of the human rights of the student leader and note that in recent hours, the authorities of the DAJ asked relatives “l ‘taking a medicine to treat symptoms of dizziness or dizziness’.

For this reason, they argue that “we raise a second SOS alert about the deterioration of the young person’s physical health and psychological condition; demanding adequate and independent medical care, with the application of medicines that are treated under pre-registration through a medical prescription ”.

US alarmed by German health

In the afternoon, the U.S. Department of State’s Western Hemisphere Affairs Office ruled and said they were “alarmed” by reports that Germany was jailed in June for criticizing Ortega, “was barely walking without help and was seen in poor condition in a court hearing.”

And he warns that the Ortega regime “will be held accountable for the condition of political prisoners.”

German with request for extension of measures before the I / A Court HR

On August 25, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) asked the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) to extend interim measures to protect the rights of Lesther Lenin German Alfaro and Freddy Alberto Navas López, as well as their respective families, considering that both imprisoned opponents “are in a situation of extreme gravity and urgency of irreparable damage to their rights in Nicaragua.”

Since May 25, 2018, the IACHR has adopted precautionary protection measures in favor of the student leader. The human rights body recalled in its request for extension that despite the existence of precautionary measures, the risk situation has increased in the current context of human rights crisis in the country. Alemany belongs to the Student University Movement of Nicaragua.

He also stressed that the deprivation of liberty of both German and other opponents “is closely related to an intention aimed at silencing any opponent, or perceived as such, by retaliation and thereby send a message of punishment to the people who protest or protest against state actions or who demand democratic guarantees in the next general elections in November 2021 ”.
