Dozens of walkers came this morning to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 at the self-service clinic located at the Walmart Cel Vista branch.
Located in the parking lot of the Walmart branch at 7101 Gateway Blvd W., the makeshift clinic was set up yesterday afternoon where blue tents were set up and immunization areas were demarcated with grocery carts.
The company’s pharmacy staff began injecting vaccines into people who meet the current phase of vaccine eligibility in Texas, corporate executives reported.
Patricia Arroyo, a 62-year-old paseña who was given the vaccine this morning, said she was happy that “more opportunities were opened up to receive the vaccine.”
“I like that there are more and more places to go to get the vaccine. We know that there are very few and that there are a lot of people waiting to receive it but my family and I were finally able to register here at Walmart. “.
He added that for several months he was trying to register at the City and UMC vaccination sites without success.
“Since December I have been trying to register. I understand that there are few vaccines and many people but I am already calmer to protect myself and my family,” he added.
According to store employees, the space has two tents to apply the vaccine and a waiting area, where residents will have to wait 15 minutes to rule out possible side effects.
The company announced yesterday that no insurance is required or has any cost to receive the vaccine, and appointments for the second vaccine will be made during the first appointment, Walmart reported.
He also anticipated that these events will take place over the next few weeks, as the allotment allows, and until stocks of vaccines run out.
Eligible patients can schedule an appointment for vaccines by logging on to the company’s website: www.walmart.com/COVIDvaccine via their mobile or computer.
