Paris, France
Thierry Henry, A former Arsenal footballer, announced this Friday that all his social networks will be deleted due to the racism and toxicity that exists on these platforms.
The Frenchman, who has more than 2 million followers on Twitter, pointed out that the problem with networks and people who insult through them are too “toxic” to ignore.
Henry assured that he will not return until the people who control these platforms impose such severe measures for insults and racism as he does for people who violate the author’s rules.
In recent months there has been a proliferation of cases of athletes denouncing racist insults through networks, complaining about the impunity of these anonymous people hiding behind the internet, which led to British institutions to issue a statement calling for more action on Instagram and Facebook.
“It’s too easy to create an account to insult people, without consequences and can remain anonymous. “ said Henry in a statement.
“The volume of racism, abuse and mental torture of those involved is too toxic to be ignored.”
Hello guys
From tomorrow morning I will withdraw from social media until people in power can regulate their platforms with the same vigor and ferocity that they do today when you infringe copyright … pic.twitter.com/gXSObqo4xg
