Things to do and not to do after getting vaccinated against COVID-19

(WXYZ) – Questions arise as more and more people are vaccinated against COVID-19. The Michiganders ask what they can and cannot do once they are completely immunized.

Well, let me start first with what it means to “vaccinate completely”. This means that you have had two Modern or Pfizer vaccines or one Johnson & Johnson vaccine and that two weeks have passed.

Now, back to your question, and this is the fun part for me in sharing positive information, this is what fully vaccinated people can do:

  • You can visit fully vaccinated friends and family without wearing a mask or socially distancing yourself. You can find yourself indoors or outdoors.
  • If you want to visit people who are not vaccinated, you can do so, but only if it is a single home and everyone is considered to be at low risk of developing severe COVID-19 disease.
  • And finally, if you are exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID, you should not be quarantined or tested. As long as you are asymptomatic, that is, you have no symptoms.

What should people not completely vaccinated do?

  • Well, first of all, you shouldn’t think you can skip the pandemic precautions and do whatever you want to do. Although vaccines are highly effective, they are not 100%. And there have been reports of advanced cases of COVID after vaccinations. That said, they are usually mild illnesses.
  • The CDC then calls for all people, even those who are completely vaccinated, to avoid traveling right now. Mostly because we don’t really know if vaccines prevent the transmission of the virus. Evidence suggests yes, but we’re not sure how low the risk is.
  • And finally, fully vaccinated people should continue to avoid crowds, avoid poorly ventilated spaces, and wear masks and social distance if they visit unvaccinated people from multiple households.
