The flu is expected to circulate more this year due to fewer precautions against COVID
While precautions against the coronavirus pandemic helped keep the flu away last year, experts are concerned that we won’t be so lucky this year.
Announcements
Precautions and restrictions designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 also helped prevent the spread of the flu, a respiratory disease caused by the flu virus, during the 2020 flu season. This time last year, experts in health care were concerned that the United States would experience a “twindemic” with COVID and the flu, but this did not happen, probably due to a combination of masked dress, social distancing, most schools closed, and in general, reduced travel.
But this year, many of these precautions and restrictions are no longer in place and the flu is expected to circulate more widely.

Last month, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services updated its guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to school buildings.
Announcements
“As many students have not yet been vaccinated and students under the age of 12 are not yet eligible, layered prevention measures, including universal masking, should be put in place for consistent in-person learning to keep children, staff and families safe, ”an MDHHS said release.
This update supports the MDHHS guidelines in the Centers for disease prevention and control.

CDC recommends that vaccinated people wear masks to schools, in some indoor settings
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends that even vaccinated people wear masks inside areas of the United States where coronavirus is on the rise.
The CDC on Tuesday, July 27, cited new information about the ability of the delta variant to spread among vaccinated people. The CDC also recommended indoor masks for all teachers, staff, students, and school visitors regardless of vaccination status.
Announcements
The CDC said that in the United States most new infections occur among unvaccinated people. But “advanced” infections, which usually cause milder illnesses, can occur in vaccinated people.
