Those who wear glasses are less likely to get COVID, according to the study

Can you wear glasses to protect yourself from COVID-19? A news study suggests the answer is yes. (WKMG)

The study, outside of India, found that people who wear glasses are three times less likely to get the virus because they are less likely to touch their eyes, WABC-TV reported.

The study, conducted last summer in Kanpur Dehat, involved 304 patients between the ages of 10 and 80.

The researchers noted that COVID-19 infection through the eyes is extremely rare, but said the virus drops can easily go from the eyes to the nose or mouth, WABC-TV reported.

A previous study in China found that 5% of those hospitalized with COVID-19 wore glasses, while about 30% of the population wore glasses.
