SAINT ANTHONY – Statewide drivers are advised to stay off state roads and city streets, as road conditions remain and threaten to worsen as night falls.
While some areas of the city appear to be deserted, others are as busy as ever.
Officials say they want to keep the city’s highways and streets reserved for first aid and essential travel.
On Tuesday, the parking lot of the LaCantera Mall was virtually empty, but traffic near 1604 and Interstate 10 flowed almost at normal speed on Tuesday.
It was also seen that traffic was circulating on Interstate 35 and other state highways in our area, which is a problem, according to officials.
“This is part of our winter weather operations that we are carrying out right now. The crews also go on the road and prepare them for tonight as we direct all traffic on the front road from the highway, ”said Jennifer Serold, a public information officer with the Texas Department of Transportation. We want to make sure that these façade roads are treated and prepared for tonight’s rain ”.

While some local state roads may seem safe and some entrance ramps cannot be barricaded, Serold said he wanted to highlight that they are all closed to the public for an important reason.
Unnecessary travel through the city streets is not recommended. Municipal transport officials publish the following statement:
“The Department of Public Works continues to support the San Antonio Police Department, which is leading the emergency response to this unprecedented winter storm in San Antonio,” the city said in a statement to KSAT. “Currently, we focus on the city’s bridges, overpasses and major intersections. The Department of Public Works also ensures that hospitals are accessible and that San Antonio firefighters can leave their stations to respond to emergency calls.
