Three Democratic congressmen test positive for COVID-19 after taking refuge with Republicans who refused to wear masks

Washington dc – Three Democratic congressmen have tested positive for COVID-19 after the Jan. 6 Capitol assault, when they had to take refuge alongside Republican colleagues who refused to wear masks, they said.

“Several Republican lawmakers in the chamber flatly refused to wear a mask, as shown in (a Punchbowl video), even when his colleagues politely asked for it.”, Said Democratic Congressman Brad Schneider (Illinois).

Earlier, Congressmen Pramila Jayapal (Washington) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (New Jersey) also announced that they had been diagnosed with COVID-19. Watson Coleman, 75, is a cancer survivor.

Meanwhile, Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (Michigan) proposed a $ 1,000 fine to members of Congress who refuse to wear masks, as long as this is the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). “It’s not an act of courage to refuse to wear a mask, it’s selfish, stupid and shameful behavior that puts lives at risk,” Dingell argued.

Schneider said members should not be tolerated “coming into the chamber or meeting in the hallways of Congress without doing their utmost to protect those around them.” Jayapal also advocated for the imposition of fines on congressmen who refuse to wear masks.
