Three mega-shots will open in New York City on Sunday

NEW YORK (WABC) – Three mega-vaccination facilities will open in New York City on Sunday. These sites can vaccinate 2,000 people a day when they are made available to the general public.

On Sunday mornings, health workers can be vaccinated by appointment through the city’s website.

These new facilities are in addition to the more than 225 sites that are already open throughout the city.

On Monday, the vaccine will be made available to group 1b: people over 75, teachers and workers in transit.

To date, nearly 150,000 people have been vaccinated from New York City’s first eligible group of nursing homes and health care workers.

After a war of words with Blasio’s mayor, Governor Cuomo announced on Friday that he would expand the list of eligible candidates to 1b to include people over the age of 75, but not enough to vaccinate them right away. .

“It will take 14 weeks. It will take 14 weeks to make 1a and 1b. Just for reservations to be available, don’t expect everyone to get a reservation immediately. For the supply rate, it will take 14 weeks,” Governor Cuomo said.

Howard Braunstein, 77, of Queens, is part of Group 1b and is ready to get the vaccine. He has been trapped at home for ten months with few trips to the grocery store and is ready to come back to life and see the family again.

Of group 1b that can be chosen on Monday, there will be no priority: he will be the first to arrive. It could be April before both groups wanting a vaccine get one.

In addition, there is a vaccination center at an institute, so while people receive vaccines there are no plans to reopen them.

In addition, the Javits center will open on Wednesday as a vaccine distribution site.

Meanwhile, police commissioner Dermot Shea tested positive for COVID-19, along with 463 NYPD members who tested positive for coronavirus this month.

Qualifiers can register for a vaccine on the city’s website. From Monday, a telephone reservation system will also be in operation.
