Three promising teenage hockey players die in a car accident in Canada

Three promising teenage hockey players were killed when the car they were in crashed into a tree in Canada in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to a report.

The boys were pronounced dead at the scene after the violent wreck at 2:45 a.m. in Surrey, British Columbia, police were quoted as saying by the Vancouver Sun.

The victims have been identified as 16-year-olds Caleb Reimer and Ronin Sharma, and 17-year-old Parker Magnuson, all of whom played at the elite Delta Delta Hockey Academy, according to the report.

According to authorities, it was not immediately known what caused the fatal wreck, which was witnessed by at least one person.

Reimer played in the Western Hockey League of Canada last season for the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Sharma was a new debutant for the Langley Rivermen, who compete in the BC Hockey League, according to the report.

The NHL mourned the deaths of all three players in a statement on Sunday posted to Twitter.

“The NHL sends its deepest love and condolences to the families of junior hockey players Caleb Reimer, Ronin Sharma and Parker Magnuson who tragically died in a car accident on Saturday. Rest in peace guys,” the League.
