The Mexican Luis Miguel is one of the most influential Latin American artists in history and there is no doubt about that. He has a lot of songs ranging from classic ballads, pop, boleros, tangos, jazz, big band and mariachi.
Like many artists, some of his songs are compositions by other great musicians. The Dominican Juan Luis Guerra has done this for many artists and wrote “Until You Forget Me”, which the Sun King knew how to turn into a great success.
Until You Forget Me is included on the 1993 album Aries, which was Micky’s ninth studio album. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States, becoming its tenth number one song on the list. But there is a curious story about its creation and it became known recently: the Dominican wrote it on a napkin.
It was an afternoon in 1990 when Juan Luis Guerra visited Jaime Camil Heron in Acapulco, Mexico. There were Heron and Luis Miguel. There, in the middle of the meal, Juan Luis Guerra wrote the song he had a few days ago turning his head. The story that followed is well known: Luis Miguel recorded it and it was a worldwide success.
