Maybe Tiffany Haddish was the one who won a Grammy Award, but we all cry.
The comedian shared an exciting video on Twitter on Sunday afternoon, just hours after he was awarded the Grammy for Best Comedy Album for his work on “Black Mitzvah.”
In the video, Haddish is filming “Kids Say the Most Backward Things with Tiffany Haddish” and listens in her headset to a Grammy-winning producer she was nominated for. He stops talking briefly to the children and, in tears, asks, “Are you all serious? Did I really win? ”
“You know a black woman hasn’t won in this category since 1986,” Haddish explains to the children, noting that Whoopi Goldberg was the last black woman to win the award for “Whoopi Goldberg: Original Broadway Show Recording”.
A child says it did you know, because he learned it during Black History Month.
Haddish continues to use his victory and reaction as a teaching moment: “Can I tell you why I’m crying? A lot of bumpy roads cross, right? And you often feel like, ‘Am I doing the right thing? It’s good enough. “Am I good enough? Am I strong enough to do this job?”
“And then you just have to believe in yourself as much as you can,” he continues. “Against all odds, you just say, ‘You know what?’ I will simply put my best foot forward and give the world the best I have achieved ”. Right? Everything is possible.”
