Tiger Woods recalled nothing of his car accident on Feb. 23 and believed he was in the state of Florida when an assistant sheriff interviewed him at a hospital in the Los Angeles area after the accident.
These were among the new details included in 22 pages of a traffic collision report and supplementary reports released Friday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident report completed by MP Carlos González concluded that Woods “was guilty of this collision for driving at an unsafe speed due to road conditions (inability to negotiate a curve on the roadway)”.
Analysis of data from the Genesis SUV black box recorder driven by Woods that day concluded that the SUV was traveling in a straight line, that no brakes were applied, and that no steering input was detected until it occurred. a slight steering movement at the end of the recorded blocking sequence.
“It had [Woods] he applied his brakes to reduce his speed or headed to correct the direction of travel, he would not have collided with the central median and the collision would not have occurred, “the sheriff’s department sergeant wrote of LA County, Michael Downing.
Gonzalez wrote that when he found Woods inside his SUV overturned on the side of the road shortly after the crash, Woods was still in the driver’s seat with his seat belt fastened.
“[Woods] he was acting in a manner consistent with someone suffering from shocks due to being involved in a major traffic collision, ”González wrote.[Woods] he refilled the airbag deployed on the steering wheel. [Woods] he became unconscious during the collision and said he did not know how the collision occurred. “
The report explained that Woods had become unconscious, had lacerations to his lower jaw, bruised right and left rib cages, fractures of his right tibia and fibula, and a possible injury to his right ankle.
Gonzalez noted in his report that Woods “had an open fracture in the center of his right leg below the knee” and “reacted to the pain when he was moved from the vehicle.”
Due to Woods’ injuries, Gonzalez said he was unable to perform sobriety tests and found no alcoholic beverages, smells of alcoholic beverages or prescription drugs in the SUV. According to a supplementary report, there was an empty bottle of unlabeled pills in the front pocket of an SUV backpack.
The report said Woods had low blood pressure, which “was consistent with the shock as a result of the collision and injuries [he] A Los Angeles County fire department captain who treated Woods at the scene reported that he was “a little combative,” which consisted of the shock caused by his injuries. Woods was given morphine. and Zofran while being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Deputy Kyle Sullivan interviewed Woods while his chin lakes were being sewn by doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Sullivan wrote in his report that “Woods did not remember being involved in a traffic collision” and “thought he was currently in the state of Florida.”
Woods told Sullivan he didn’t remember anything after taking two long photo shoots the day before, and Woods said he hadn’t consumed alcohol or taken prescription drugs the night before or that morning.
Justin Smith, who investigated whether Woods was damaged while driving the SUV, interviewed officers who responded and other first responders who treated Woods at the scene. The captain of the Los Angeles County Fire Department noted that Woods’ pupils “were not precise or restricted, which would have been indicative of narcotic analgesic influence.”
Gonzalez told Smith that Woods’ answers to his questions “were not delayed and that his speech was not desperate.”
Smith obtained camera footage from the parking and reception area of Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, where Woods had been staying. Smith noted that Woods “did not appear to have little dexterity and did not sway or sway.”
Based on his research, Smith concluded that “there was no reason to believe [Woods] had been operating a motor vehicle while affected by alcohol or drugs. “
