TORONTO – Robbie Ray struck out 10 and took the game from a hit to the seventh inning, Marcus Semien hit 35 homers and the Toronto Tiles whitewashed the Oakland Athletics 8-0 on Sunday by completing a sweep of the three-game series.
Bo Bichette went 4-4, scored twice and produced a run and Mexican Alejandro Kirk gave home a home run for Toronto to get double-digit unstoppable for the fourth straight game. The Tiles have won seven of eight.
The Athletics, who are in the playoff fight, have lost 14 of 20 after winning 12 of the previous 15 games.
Ray (11-5) hit a double-digit strikeout for the fourth inning in a row and is the first Tile pitcher to get it. The only unstoppable he agreed to was a Khris Davis double with an out, in a six-inning and two-thirds task.
The left-back has 212 strikeouts this season, second behind Gerrit Cole (215) of the New York Yankees in the big ones.
For the Tiles the Mexican Alejandro Kirk of 4-3 with two scored-three driven. Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of 5-3 with two written down, and Teoscar Hernandez of 5-0. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel 4-1 with one scored and one produced. Venezuelan Breyvic Valera 3-0.
