According to reports, the next entry of the Call of Duty franchise will take place during World War II and the game is tentatively titled “World War II: Vanguard“According to Modern Warzone sources, the game will also have an impact on Call of Duty: War zone, and you will see the weapons and shared property with the title similar to Black Ops Cold War. Last month, Modern Warzone reported that Call of Duty 2021 is in development from Sledgehammer Games, which would be appropriate, as the developer was previously working Call of Duty: World War II. Clearly the team has some experience with the setting.
Modern Warzone seems confident in its supply, but the piece reporting these details also mentions that previous rumors pointed to a 1950s setup for the upcoming Call of Duty. Since World War II ended in 1945, that wouldn’t make much sense. Modern Warzone speculates on this Second World War: Vanguard it could be set in an alternative timeline where the war lasted longer. In the opinion of this writer, it is also possible Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard it could be a game that deals specifically with events directly after the war, such as the Axis channel forces. Unfortunately, right now it’s all just conjecture.
Interestingly, World War II: Vanguard it’s not the only new Call of Duty game that could be in development. A prominent Call of Duty leaker has also hinted that an independent Call of Duty: Zombies game could be up and running from Activision. At this time, there are very few details, including which team could develop the game. If proven right, Call of Duty fans could have a lot more content to enjoy in the future.
For now, readers are advised to take these reports with a grain of salt until Activision makes some sort of official announcement. Sources sometimes get inaccurate information and plans can often change during development. Black Ops Cold War just released a few months ago, so it will probably be a little longer before the publisher reveals anything concrete about their upcoming Call of Duty game.
