A tourist, identified as Edison Njoku Konan, who visited the island a week ago assured in an interview with “Noticentro” (Wapa) that he would never return to Puerto Rico for the way he was treated in the middle of a police intervention.
The man was arrested on March 19 by officers of the Municipal Police of San Juan while taking a sip in the Plaza de Santurce. This to violate the executive order imposed by the government to control cases of coronavirus, COVID-19.
“The cops stopped me and started questioning me why I didn’t have the mask on, but we were out drinking and no one had their mask on because everyone was drinking,” the young man said.
He alleges that he left the scene because none of the police officers were fluent in English to be able to communicate with him.
