Trevor Bauer was ready to join Mets after a merch fiasco: “I’m done”

Were it not for his agent, Trevor Bauer could have been a met.

Rachel Luba didn’t convince NL award winner Cy Young to sign with the Dodgers, but she told him to reconsider his decision amid his frustration with the appearance of merchandise on his website by prematurely suggesting he would sign with the Mets.

“I’m done,” Luba recalled Luer calling him to Barstool’s “Starting 9” podcast. “Call the Dodgers, that’s it. It will be the other team ”.

The “other team” was the Mets. According to Luba, Bauer felt guilty that the merchandise was there.

“I can’t do that to a fan base,” he told her. “The decision has been made.”

Before informing the team of his decision, Luba told him to take a walk and think about it more and not decide based on a mistake he was not making.

When they spoke ten minutes later, Bauer had changed his mind. He was going to play for the Dodgers and sign a three-year, $ 102 million deal, avoiding the Mets ’three-year offer worth $ 105 million.

Joel Sherman of The Post reported last month that in the last 24 hours of Bauer’s free agency, the Mets believed they had reached an agreement with Bauer.
