On Wednesday, Twitter temporarily suspended Trump’s account for the first time because of posts the president shared about the crowd of his supporters who stormed the Capitol. The platform said the posts violated its policies and demanded the president remove them before regaining access to his account.
A Twitter spokesman said Thursday that the tweets have been deleted and, according to Twitter policy, Trump will have access to his account within 12 hours of his removal.
On Wednesday, Facebook also suspended Trump’s account, as well as his Instagram account, for 24 hours after deleting his posts about the Capitol riot.

A Twitter spokesman said the company had no information to share in late Thursday morning about the possibility of extending the suspension to Trump’s Twitter account until the Jan. 20 inauguration.
Wednesday was the most drastic action the platforms have taken against Trump’s accounts.
The move was sparked by a one-minute video that Trump instantly posted to his supporters who were forced to enter the Capitol to return home, but in the video he also repeated unfounded claims about widespread election fraud.
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube withdrew the video in the early hours of Wednesday evening.
Trump followed up with a similar text post on Facebook and Twitter, which was also removed after platforms blocked Trump’s account.
Amid the suspension of his account, Trump issued a statement shared on Twitter by Dan Scavino, deputy director of the White House communications cabinet, in which he acknowledged the end of his term.
“While I totally disagree with the outcome of the election and the facts confirm me, however, there will be an orderly transition on January 20,” Trump said in a statement shared by Scavino. “Our struggle to ensure that only legal votes are counted. While this represents the end of the first major term in presidential history, it is only the beginning of our struggle to make America great again.”
The statement was shared just minutes after congressional lawmakers formally presented Electoral College votes showing Biden’s victory shortly before 4 p.m.
