Trump urges McConnell to be expelled from “non-smiling political pirate”

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday launched a blunt attack on Washington’s most powerful Republican after Trump, calling Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a “smile-free political hacker” who should be ousted. of office.

“The Republican party can never be respected or strong with political‘ leaders ’like Senator Mitch McConnell at the helm,” Trump said in a 626-word email statement that all declared political war on the Kentucky Republican.

“McConnell’s dedication to business as always, the status quo policies, along with his lack of political knowledge, wisdom, skill and personality, have quickly driven him from majority leader to minority leader and will only get worse,” he said. dir Trump.

“Democrats and Chuck Schumer interpret McConnell as a violin – they’ve never had it so well – and they want to keep it that way. We know that our America First agenda is the winner, not McConnell’s Beltway First agenda or Biden’s America Last.

The statement comes a day after McConnell appeared to make an effort to resolve the Republican Party’s split over Trump’s newly concluded indictment trial for allegedly inciting the January 6 Capitol Revolt.

McConnell told the Wall Street Journal, “I don’t suppose that, as long as the former president wants to stay involved, he won’t be a constructive part of the process.”

On Saturday, McConnell voted to acquit Trump of the “incitement to insurrection,” but later tore him up in a Senate speech, which said Trump was “virtually and morally responsible” for the violence that killed five. He claimed that Trump’s claim to have defeated President Biden in the November 3 election was a “crescendo of conspiracy theories orchestrated by an outgoing president who seemed determined to overturn the decision of voters or strengthen our institutions at the exit ”.

Tuesday’s Trump statement blames McConnell for Republican problems and is credited with recent successes.

“In 2020, I received the majority of votes from any incumbent president in history, nearly 75,000,000. All House Republican incumbents won for the first time in decades and we gave up 15 seats, almost costing Nancy’s job Hairy, ”he said.

“Republicans won a majority in at least 59 of the 98 partisan legislatures, and Democrats failed to turn a single legislature from red to blue. And in the “Mitch Senate,” during the last two election cycles, I alone saved at least 12 Senate seats, more than eight in the 2020 cycle alone, and then came the Georgia disaster, where we should have won the two U.S. Senate seats. , but McConnell matched the Democratic supply of $ 2,000 stimulus checks with $ 600.

“How does this work? It became the main publicity of the Democrats and was a big winner for them. McConnell then put himself in the ads, one of the most unpopular politicians in the United States. Many Georgia Republicans voted Democrat, or simply did not vote, for their distress toward their inept governor, Brian Kemp, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, and the Republican Party, for failing to do their job of electoral integrity. during the 2020 presidential race. “

Trump continued: “It was a complete electoral disaster in Georgia and in some other swing states. McConnell did nothing and will never do what needs to be done to ensure a fair and just electoral system in the future. He doesn’t have what it takes, he never did and will never do it ”.

The former president, who according to the poll remains a powerful Republican Party figure, indicated that the breakup with McConnell will be permanent after the two have worked together during their four-year tenure on common goals such as tax cuts. and three Supreme Court confirmations.

“My only regret is that McConnell” begged “for my strong support and support from the great people of Kentucky in the 2020 election and I gave it to him. He went from one point to 20 points up and won. forget it. Without my endorsement, McConnell would have lost and lost badly. Now, his numbers are lower than ever, he is destroying the Republican side of the Senate and in doing so is seriously harming our country, “Trump said.

“Similarly, McConnell has no credibility with China because of his family’s major Chinese business ventures. It does nothing about this tremendous economic and military threat. “

McConnell said last month that the riots that disrupted the certification of Biden’s victory were “provoked by the president” and that his Sino-American wife, former Transport Secretary Elaine Chao, was the first member of the cabinet. Trump to resign for violence. Chao’s father, who fled to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War, and his brother-in-law are prominent international businessmen.

Trump continued, “Mitch is a noisy, grumpy, non-smiling political pirate, and if Republican senators stay with him, they won’t win again. He will never do what needs to be done or what is right for our country. When necessary and timely, I will stand up for the main rivals advocating Making America Great Again and our America First policy. We want a bright, strong, thoughtful and compassionate leadership.

“Before the pandemic, we produced the largest number of jobs and economies in the history of our country, and in the same way, our economic recovery after Covid was the best in the world. We reduced taxes and regulations, we rebuilt our military, we took care of our veterinarians, we became independent of energy, we built the wall and we stopped the massive entry of illegals into our country and much more. Legal, the pipes are stopped, taxes will increase and we will no longer be independent of energy ”.

Trump concluded, “This is a great time for our country and we cannot let it go by using third-class ‘leaders’ to dictate our future.”

Trump was acquitted by the Senate with only seven Republicans who joined Democrats voting to condemn. The 57-43 vote fell far short of the two-thirds requirements of the Constitution for its condemnation. Since he was acquitted, Trump remains eligible to run for president again in 2024.

McConnell will not face re-election until 2026, but the 2022 Republican primaries are likely to be a power war between pro-Trump and pro-McConnell factions. Trump previously urged a 2022 primary challenge against Senate No. 2 Republican John Thune of South Dakota, who, like McConnell, voted for acquittal.

McConnell’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
