Twitter banned Gateway Pundit founder Jim Hoft

Hoft joins a list of other right-wing accounts that have recently been banned for promoting falsehoods about the 2020 presidential election. The list includes, among others, former President Donald Trump and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Twitter’s civic integrity policy states, “You may not use Twitter’s services for the purpose of manipulating or interfering in elections or other civic processes.” Gateway Pundit has been promoting falsehoods about the 2020 presidential election, both on Twitter and directly on its website, alleging fraud and electoral irregularities. On the day of Biden’s inauguration, the website’s main headline falsely claimed that the election had been “stolen” from Trump.

Hoft shared a post about his ban on the Gateway Pundit website Saturday evening. He noted an “ongoing investigation into the Detroit TCF Center,” which continues to drive a false narrative of “overnight deliveries of tens of thousands of votes.”

“We have a lot more about this incident to report in the coming days,” Hoft said. He shared a screenshot of his Twitter account before it was banned. The tweet says, “Just a FYI: the fake media and others challenged our TCF Center video report starting Friday. It was a bad move. We have a lot more to come.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden was inaugurated on January 20th. There is no evidence that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, and the Trump administration and election officials have called the 2020 presidential election the “safest” election in U.S. history. President Joe Biden won the popular vote by more than 7 million votes and won the Electoral College 306 to 232.

Gateway Pundit has been sharing false information since its inception. It should be noted that in 2018, the far-right website published a document highlighting the false allegations of sexual assault against Special Adviser Robert Mueller.

But just hours after the document was published on the website, journalists and self-proclaimed Internet detectors linked the document to Surefire Intelligence, a company linked to far-right Internet personality Jacob Wohl. Hoft removed the document from the website and posted a note from the editor on its site.

Gateway Pundit was also one of the many defendants in Dominion’s defamation suit. The list also included Trump campaigner Rudy Giuliani, Trump adviser Sidney Powell, conservative media One America News Network, right-wing website Gateway Pundit, and Colorado businessman and activist Joseph Oltmann, among others. others.
