Michael Chiesa stayed perfect in the welterweight division on Saturday when he defeated Neil Magny in the UFC in the ESPN 20 main event.
Chiesa (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) extended his career in the division to 4-0 when he got a unanimously misguided victory over Magny (24-8 MMA, 17-7 UFC) in the headline, which took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and aired on ESPN2.
Check out below the main Twitter reactions to Chiesa’s win against Magny in the UFC on ESPN 20.
The red corner is 11-2 tonight. Neil Magny tested the trend. Main event to the touch. -> ESPN

Chiesa probably needs the retreat to win, but it was perhaps the most polished I’ve ever seen standing up.

Chiesa’s early withdrawal attempt to start the second round, but Magny keeps her balance and has a hook. # UFCFightIsland8

Magny worked hard to get back on her feet and sought an elimination of her own, but Chiesa ends up at the top. # UFCFightIsland8

Tending well to Chiesa this struggle. The man who wins the match in this fight will be the winner. This man is @ MikeMav22

Magny forces an elimination in round 2 and pays him allowing Chiesa to get the top spot. Another round for the Church. 2-0.

Magny was available at +400 about 30 seconds ago. +169 and plummeting.

I can’t believe why these two don’t use judo techniques. They are both boys. So much judo they can do @ufc

This is another reason why aggressive elbows would serve him: Chiesa was able to record Magny in the first two rounds, but his inability to present makes him lose the time he spends on top. if Magny is still the coolest man, as she does above as I write

Magny’s decision making in this fight is costing her. He should still have won the third round, but refuses to attack with the less experienced striker Chiesa. 🤷🏻♂️

Michael Chiesa has never lost a fight in which he has scored 3 or more eliminations, a threshold he has now surpassed.

Happy to get a sample size at Chiesa in the championship rounds, but wants to close the show from the back montage …

Too often fighters get overwhelmed with the “mixed” in mixed martial arts and get lost trying to do it all. Michael Chiesa knows exactly who he is and what he does. His path is clear. It can be limiting, but it can also give purpose to every action.

Chiesa is tired, but on the ground he is in a state of flux

This main event really demonstrates the skill of the top scale fighters compared to some of the greener fighters on the list we saw in some of the previous fights.

Michael Chiesa posing in a clinic against Neil Magny. A win here would be 4 in a row for Chiesa. One more round …
