Twitter Super follows a strange system that provides each user with their own purchase in the app

Each Super Follow Twitter subscription is an individual purchase in the app for each account with the feature set up.

The unusual system, seen by Jane Manchun Wong, means that for each Super Follow there is an individual purchase in the app for that account specifically. Some observers are speculating that every purchase in the Super Follow app will have to be manually set up by Twitter in the “App Store,” which makes the system even more unconventional.

The “App Store” does not allow multiple instances of the same subscription, which means that other platforms such as YouTube and Twitch can avoid it, as they allow users to purchase a subtoken that can be targeted to a specific creator.

This means that there will be thousands of purchases built into the Twitter app, which will involve subscribing to Twitter’s Twitter Blue and marked spaces, Twitter’s “App Store” page will only show 10 purchases built into the app, since it would not be practical to show the whole list.

Apple only allows developers to create up to 10,000 in-app purchases, so it’s unclear whether Twitter will limit eligible users to sell Super Follows to 10,000 less Ticketed Spaces and Twitter Blue.

Twitter announced Super Follows earlier this year, allowing creators with at least 10,000 followers to charge up to $ 9.99 a month as a subscription to access exclusive tweets. Twitter means a three percent reduction in Super Follow subscriptions to a total of $ 50,000, making Apple’s 30 percent in-app purchase share noticeably higher.

The feature was released yesterday from the U.S. and Canada, but will be rolled out globally to iOS in the coming weeks.
