Two people arrested on gun charges outside the White House; No Danger to the President – NBC4 Washington

Two people, one of whom said they were there to meet with the president, went to U.S. Secret Service agents in front of the White House on Saturday and were arrested after admitting they had weapons, according to the Department of Metropolitan Police and Secret Service.

The Secret Service said that “during the course of the meeting and subsequent arrests, people posed no immediate danger to any Secret Service protégé.”

At approximately 5:24 p.m., police said a man and a woman went to secret service agents “by themselves” outside a secured vehicle checkpoint at the White House complex last year the largest pedestrian crossing west of 15th Street, on Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

One person said “they were there to meet with the president of the United States and they had to deliver a letter to him,” police said.

“One of the individuals revealed possession of a weapon and was immediately arrested and the second revealed the location of an additional weapon in a nearby vehicle,” a Secret Service spokesman said.

After finding that vehicle, the Secret Service said its agents “took possession of the weapon.”

The man, who has not been identified, was arrested for possession of a BB weapon.

Sylvia Hall, 66, was arrested for carrying an unlicensed handgun, possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition.
